heat transfer

 

my example of heat transfer is my snake's tank. 

My snake, Marmalade, requires more heat than just how my room is, so i have a heat pad along part of the back of the tank as well as a ceramic heat lamp that sits on top of the tank. the type of transfer is radiation. the heat giver is the heat pad and lamp, and the receiver is my Marmalade and the rest of the tank. the lamp and pad get their energy from my wall outlet and my snake, being a cold-blooded creature, gets energy from being warm and moves around.

Marmalade likes this fake rock hide and it is a warm space as it sits below the heat lamp, I've also seen her sit on top of it. 

the lamp is on an adjustable switch, though I typically don't mess with adjusting it, it's either on or off. I leave the heat pad on all the time so there's always a warm space.
